Jeff Snider

RECYCLED LIGHT

Jeff Snider's installation is a full-sized living room comprised of functional illuminated sculptures constructed out of repurposed materials. These pieces promote the sustainable eco-friendly trends of future commerce. He has taken what was once old and broken and has transformed it into a vibrant and alive sculpture. An example of this is a 1930s Montgomery Ward mahogany wood radio. Snider has removed its original components and replaced them with a 140 Watt stereo system with Ipod dock and CD player. A notable piece in his collection is a hanging light fixture created from a 1920s toaster with antique glass doorknobs illuminated with LEDs. The current "green" and "sustainable" trend is not just a short-term fad; consciousness about our planet is a necessity and a movement that will grow and evolve. Jeff Snider's work is making steps in that evolution by creating cutting-edge functional art that re-uses pieces that were once outdated and collecting dust and transforms them into light, beauty, and function.

Jeff Snider's work serves the purpose of shifting paradigms. He has taken the appliance out of its usual location and transformed its function. Jeff strives to create a feeling of whimsy and glee with each sculpture. His sculpture also maintains a recognizable attachment for each individual that views his work as they are items we have all known since childhood. Jeff has selected each piece to represent the best in appliance aesthetics and design. Each piece is signed and dated.
